The Netflix TV series “The Get Down” is now filming and casting directors are seeking actors to work on the show. Netflix describes their show, The Get Down is set in the 1970s New York City that is broken down, beaten up, violent, cash strapped, dying. Told through the lives and music of a ragtag crew of South Bronx teens – from Bronx tenements, to the SoHo art scene, CBGBs, Studio 54, and even the glass towers of the just-built World Trade Center – The Get Down is a sweeping saga of loyalty, love and betrayal, and the transformation of New York City.
Producers are looking for African American and Hispanic men and women to portray Get Down Kid types. Filming will be on September 15th and September 16th. A fitting for selected actors will be on Wednesday, September 14th. This casting call is for non-union actors. Get down kids are the heart of this show and work in almost every scene with background. Please note days of work require full day availability and will be ongoing in the months ahead. The show films in New York City, so local actors are being cast.
They are seeking people with longer, natural hair…no fades, no braids, no shaved heads. Especially seeking legally 18 year old or over but who look younger.
