Created by Craig Thomas and Carter Bays and premiering in 2005 on CBS, How I Met Your Mother has seen a great deal of success throughout the majority of its run. You can see a lot of similarities between Friends and How I Met Your Mother, but the show has taken on a very unique personality. The setting is a story being told by Ted to his children about how he met their mother, narrated by Bob Sagat. Ted’s kids are obviously disinterested in hearing his roundabout and cruelly long stories about him and his friends as he searches for love. Although the reason for the show is the story to Ted’s kids, very little time is actually devoted to that actual aspect.
The main characters are: Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor), Marshall Eriksen (Jason Segel), Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders), Lily Aldrin (Alyson Hannigan), and Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris).
The show has earned its fair share
of accolades, winning 6 Emmys and a People’s Choice Award. How I Met Your Mother does not seem to be slowing down and enjoys a healthy fan base.
