Short Film “Atlantic City” Looking for ActressEstebandido Productions is casting for its next short film, Atlantic City. This is an independent production, to be shot over four days in Austin/San Antonio in mid August. The film is about a two day laborers drifting through south Texas find themselves at odds when one decides to take a job from a local thug in order to raise money to search for his estranged mother. It is being produced by Rachel Ecklund and is being directed by Miquel Alvarez.

The casting directors are looking for an African American female who is around 15 years old to play Marie, a scrappy teenage runaway who has lived a lifetime in her fifteen years. Parents should note this role calls for adult situations, no nudity. Because of this, the producers prefer someone 18+ to play the role, but all will be considered.

The audition date is still being determined but it will be sometime in early July. The shoot is paid and actors will receive film credit, DVD/Digital Copy, meals, snacks and beverages as well as transportation as needed. Estebandido Productions is the offspring of writer/director Miguel Alvarez. He has received awards from the Directors’ Guild of America, Panavision’s Emerging Filmmaker program, the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts, the National Association of Latino Arts and Culture, and the Texas Filmmakers Production Fund for his previous short films, Tadpoles, Veterans, KID, and Mnemosyne Rising. Most recently he became a Screenwriting fellow for the 2013 Latino Screenwriting Project sponsored by Cinefestival and Sundance. He currently teaches in the Film Department at the University of Texas at Austin.
