A casting call has been released for the upcoming short film “Damn Bro”. Ameri Film Casting is now hiring two teen males for roles in the SAG short film. The movie will be shooting in New York, so they are looking for people who are local to the area. This comedy short is about a young hustler who makes his money in high school to pay for college and when he’s bullied by the star basketball player into doing his school work, a surprising friendship develops. The movie’s team is looking to cast the roles of Marc and Jadon. Marc is a Haitian/ African American male who looks 18 years old. They are looking for a male who is 5’9 or shorter, who appears chubby to play the high school hustler. Marc is selling juices/water to kids/teachers, to an outsider your life may look like a horror story but you have good attitude and turn it into a comedy, because you’re smart, you taught yourself how to build computers, you make videos. You’ve got to save up for college. Who’s going to give you a basketball scholarship? You’re 5’9!! And you have less time now because the high school basketball star is making you do his schoolwork. No sweat, right?
The role of Jadon calls for an African American male who looks 18 years old and who is 6’ or taller to play the high school basketball star. He’s really not that into school but who is? You wanted to play ball all of your life, you been scouted since middle school, and you don’t have time for school work. You practice seven days a week!! But your grades are slipping and let’s be honest, you’ve been passed along in school because who’s going to hold back a kid your size?! Everybody thinks they can play in the NBA but you’re the real deal, if you can pass high school.
Auditions will be held on August 29th from 7pm to 10pm. Callbacks are set for September 5th from 7pm to 10pm. Anyone selected for the movie will have to be available for the rehearsal dates which are currently scheduled for September 6th, 7th, 8th 6:00-9:00 PM ($20 per) and the shoot dates that are set for September 10th, 11th and 17th. Chosen teens will be paid $125.00 per shooting day along with meals, transportation and a DVD copy of the film.
